Final Project Diectors 13 Waterloo Road

Thats a Rap - Direction Unit

So the Direction unit is out of the way. Despite the issues I had with it I am happy with the outcome. There are a few things that if I had allowed myslef more time I would like to have done, but all in all I think it is a job well done. Now I can focus on my essay and the group commission unit :)

Direction Unit: Waterloo Road Update

after a much needed discussion with Simon it was decided that the scene for my direction unit was to complicated, so after a quick search on the o'l web I was able to find a considerably easier scene.

In this scene Rose the Mother of one of the pupils Sam has gone home and has started drinking as she has just found out that Sam has cancer. Tom the head of the English department goes round to the house to find Rose passed out on the sofa.

The script has been completed and awaiting the final alterations not bad for a mornings work :)

Direction Unit- Update Character Profile

This Post is to do with the performance workshop
Finn Sharkey Waterloo Road

Young loudmouthed class disrupting pupil. Constantly in trouble. Problems spur from the neglecting issues he has from his parents. Where there is a problem Sharkey can usually be found at the base of it.

However when it comes to relationships he is something of a ladies man, his boyish looks and bad-boy daredevil attitude means that he is an instant hit with the ladies. Finn is deeply insecure almost luring Amy Porter into a suicide pact. He relies on friends and girls to cope with the challenges he faces. Finn is still getting over the loss of his longterm girlfriend Sambuca who died during the last series.

Over all Finn is the bad-boy of Waterloo Road.

Direction Unit- Update

I have chosen the scene that I am going to do an adaptation of.
The scene is from Series 5 episode 1 where two schools merge together Waterloo Road & John Fosters "the posh school" Ideas for how I am going to adapt this idea are on-going but now I have the basis of my idea to build on
- more to follow soon

Direction Unit: Waterloo Road

I have chosen after much deliberation to adapt a few scenes from the BBC drama series Waterloo Road. As far my idea has only gone as far as to decide that it is going to be set in the university environment and that in someway it is going to be greatly different from the actual BBC series. More updates will follow

Project Update - Direction Unit

We have been briefed to direct  a 3 min project based on a TV Drama series, specifically how can we apply our own style to the series.
My initial thoughts were "How can I make the series that I choose my own?
What is my style?
How can I make this work the best piece I have done so far

These questions will be answered as the project develops

So much has gone on since the last time I was here well for one Easter holidays could have been better. But I am pleased to say that the time was spent well, the Journey is on track with the essay following in a close second position and bringing up the rear is a newly edited and slightly modified the meeting script which just needs a few more tweaks and then it will be perfect.

Spaced Synopsis

A quirky situation comedy revolving around the lives of a dysfunctional group of interesting and specifically different group of friends living in a rented flat within a house in the urban setting of London.

Spaced mainly follows the lives of two twenty-something year olds co-habiting under the guise of a professional couple and their attempt to survive in the rat race of modern society whilst still incorporating element of both fantasy and surrealism. The two main characters Tim Bisley (Simon Pegg)  an aspiring comic book artist and graphic designer who also enjoys the delights of puff now and then he is a small child in a mans body and tends to be aggressive and emotionally unstable. He has also recently broken up with his girlfriend and is dealing with the emotions that come with break ups. Daisy Steiner (Jessica Hynes) Daisy is a delusional mid 20s slightly scatter brained woman who up until now has been living in a squat with her drug taking buddies, she is bubbly and highly emotional and generally speaking miles apart in personality from Tim.

The main story line of spaced is how they meet and how over time these two radically different people come to rely on each other both emotionally and to survive and also how they grow emotionally. It’s a typical guy meets girl but with a twist. Spaced also has a number of other characters these are:
Marsha, she is the land lady of the flat which the bogus couple rent from. She is an alcoholic self obsessed woman in her mid 40s early 50s she is the oldest of the group but she does not behave that way she appears to be doggedly trying to hold on to her youth reminiscing on events of her youth and turning to alcohol to soothe the problems that have befallen her.
Mike Tim’s military obsessed bit of a fantasist idiotic friend who tends to spend a large amount of time in the flat wearing camouflage and doing sweet FA. Mike however does have his comedic moments, his humour tends to be dry bordering on black he is however an essential member of the group.
Last but not least Brian, an artist who seems to have a split personality. He has very little to say and is very serious but as with Mike he does have his moments of pure hilarity.

What sets spaced apart from other TV series is the use of odd and unusual camera angles, and fast paced editing that give it a unique feel and look also its use of graphic art in various places gives it a indie type feel and furthers the surreal and abstract take on life which these charecters possess
